If you’re a small business owner, startup, or even an individual just trying to get the word out about your great product or service, chances are, you’ve already tried creating a Facebook page and sharing some posts. But if it seems like nobody is never seeing your post, much less engaging with it (i.e. liking, sharing, or commenting on), all of your extra effort could be going right down the drain. Luckily, there are some ways that you can organically increase the number of people who see and interactive with your social media posts, including getting the timing just right.
When Is the Best Time of Day to Post on Social Media?
There are all sorts of different theories and even studies that discuss when the most people are active online on any given day. So if you’re looking for an exact science, you’re going to have to do some analytical digging on your own pages to see when your audience is usually online. For a more generalized answer, most sources say to try to schedule your Facebook and other social media posts for:
- 9 a.m.
- 1 p.m.
- 3 p.m.
During weekends, any time before 8 a.m. and after 8 p.m. are pretty much dead zones for checking social media, so avoid posting during these times.
What Are the Best Days of the Week to Post?
According to Contently, the best days of the week to post on social media are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In fact, Saturday and Sunday typically have the highest post engagement rates, so try to schedule your posts to go out on the weekends (but not too early or too late, as noted above).
#FinallyFriday: What Type of Content to Post on the Weekend
So if the weekends are such a great time to get your message out there, how can you compete with all of the other information that your audience will inevitably be scrolling through on their days off? Since most people are happier than usual on Fridays and through the weekend, aim for posting your most uplifting and inspirational messages on these days. Save the heavier stuff for Monday through Wednesday.
